Crafting is a wonderful way to build connections to picture books. But most of all, it’s FUN!
Please find below some craft activities that we’ve had fun creating to dovetail with our picture books, and instructions on how to make them. We hope you, too, have a lot of fun! Please do tag me on social media to share your creations – we’d love to see them!
Leila and I had a lot of FUN creating Peg Butterflies for you! All you need is a single sheet of A4 paper, some wooden pegs, scissors and glue! We’ve used pencils to colour-in and added an antenna with pipe cleaner – but the butterfly looks just as wonderful without it! Each craft sheet has two butterflies on it – one that you can colour-in and another for you to design your own patterns. ENJOY!

Matt and I had a lot of FUN creating our Christmas Cat Crowns for you! All you need is a single sheet of A4 paper! We’ve used pencils, textas, glitter glue and pompoms to decorate ours – we’d LOVE to see how you decorate yours! Draw your own cats whiskers, or make some from pipe cleaners! If you need to make a large crown, simply cut the headband in half and join the ends together and adjust to your exact size. ENJOY!

The AMAZING peeps at Play School Story Time and Monash University have put together these fabulous resources for Wonderful Shoes – encouraging the book to be acted out and for kids to become ‘sound detectives’ – so good!!
